Con el apoyo de un fantástico equipo de guías, arrieros y cocineros,  Choquequirao  trek es realmente una caminata espectacular para visitar y ver las páginas de la historia antigua del Imperio Inca.

Choquequirao, impresionante no solo por el complejo arqueológico, sino también por las vistas que ofrece el recorrido desde la ciudad del  Cusco . La vegetación, la vista del  cañón del Apurímac , uno de los cañones más profundos de  América , hace de esta caminata una experiencia inolvidable.

Construido en la cima de una montaña en los Andes del Perú, el complejo arqueológico de Choquequirao, solo puede compararse con la majestuosidad de  Machu Picchu , en su belleza, su grandeza arquitectónica y su realización. Las ruinas de esta ciudad inca se encuentran a una altitud de 3050 m. Una maravilla de antiguos muros de piedra que protegen los palacios y templos. Los sistemas de fuentes, canales y acueductos que alimentan las terrazas de cultivo están intactos y que a muchos kilómetros de distancia son claramente visibles.
Choquequirao es el nuevo Machu Picchu, y menos masificado, y no se controla mucho los espacios a visitar.

Some days before the tour, our team will contact you via E-mail or whatsapp and will coordinate the meeting time at your hotel to provide you the all tour details and answer all your questions.

Day 1: Cusco – Cachora – Capuliyoc – Chiquisca – Playa Rosalina – Marampata

🚶‍♂️ Hike distance: 15 km /9.3mi.

🕗 Duration: 7 hours

📈 Máximum elevation: 2800m. – 9484ft.

📉 Minimum elevation: 1700m. – 5580ft

We will pick you up from your hotel between at 4:00 AM to start our trip in our private van for about 4 hours to northeast of Cusco to Capuliyoc small village (2.800m./9184ft.) where we will meet with our trip staff (muleteers and horses).
Here we will begin with our hiking for about 10 minutes and will arrive to our first view point where we will have a panoramic view, in front of us we will see the snow Padreyoc mountain and the famous and deep Apurimac Canyon, after having an amazing view we will start our descend for 3 hours through beautiful landscapes where you will be able to see different medicinal plants which were used by our ancestors, If we are lucky we will be able to see the majestic Condor, we descend until Chiquisca (1800m./5904ft.) where we have a delicious Lunch.

After having lunch, we will continue descending 45 minutes more until Playa Rosalina (1700m./5580ft.), located in Apurimac River separated by two important regions we will cross from Apurimac to Cusco, after passing the famous Apurimac river we will hike uphill for about 4 hours until Marampata (2800m./9184ft.), we will arrive to our camp site approximately at 4:30 pm, after a break its time for dinner, overnight.

💡 To keep in mind

This first day is the longest and most difficult, it combines a walk up and down, so it is highly recommended to bring walking sticks.
-Bring mosquito repellent as you will enter valleys with tropical microclimates.

Day 2: Maranpata – Choquequirao - Marampata

Early morning approximately at 6:00am. we will have a delicious breakfast, then we start our hiking to Choquequirao aproximately 1 hour and a half, on the easy hike to Choquequirao (3050m/10004ft.) on this part of the hiking we will have an amazing view of the profile of the Archeological Choquequirao Complex and the Incas terraces, along the way our tour guide will explain about the flora and fauna, we´ll have all morning to explore all the Choquequirao archaeological site (cradle of gold), where you will visit plazas sector, llamas sector, astronomic sector and other important places, then you will have free time to explore by your selve and conect with the nature (Pachamama), have the lunch.
In the afternoon we will come back to Maranpata (2800m./9184ft.) camping site to relax after the beautiful hike, dinner, overnight.

💡 To keep in mind

-This day you will spend practically the whole day in Choquequirao so it is recommended to bring some snacks of your choice.

Day 3: Maranpata – Santa rosa – Playa Rosalina – Chiquisca

🚶‍♂️ Hike distance: 12 km /7.4mi.

🕗 Duration: 7 hours

📈Máximum elevation: 2800m./9184ft.

📉Minimum elevation: 1857m. – 6092ft.

After an early breakfast we’ll prepare for our journey back, from Marampata camping site you’ll begin the downhill hike after 2 hour hike we will have our first stop in Santa Rosa where we will relax with the view of the valley, then we will continue our downhill trail to la Playa Rosalina we will cross the bridge and the Apurimac rive, you’ll have a break to enjoy some fresh fruit that was farmed in the area, where cactus fruit is the main attraction, after it’ll be another two hours uphill to reach Chikiska Camping site (1857m. / 6092ft.) where we will have our delicious lunch, free afternoon to relax, dinner, overnight.

Day 04: Chikisca – Cachora – Cusco

🚶‍♂️ Hike distance: 4 km /1.8mi.

🕗 Duration: 4 hours

📈 Máximum elevation: 2800m./9184ft.

🚐 Transportation back:

After our early breakfast 5:00am. we’ll be ready to return to Cusco, along the way you will be able to appreciate the majestic Apurimac Canyon, considered one of the deepest of the region, It’ll be a four-hour uphill hike until Capuliyoc view point (2.800m./9184ft.). here will be the end of the trek and where you’ll enjoy your last lunch with all hiking team, guide, cook and horsemen also Here our driver will wait for us and will transport to Cusco for about 3 hours and a half.

¿Qué veremos en Choquequirao trek?

En esta fabulosa caminata veremos en el camino mucha naturaleza como orquídeas y muchas variedades de aves y si tenemos suerte podremos ver al fabuloso oso y llegando a los restos arqueológicos veremos impresionantes construcciones incas de similares belleza a Machu Picchu.

¿Con cuánto tiempo de anticipación debo reservar esta caminata?

Como todas las caminatas que organizamos, sugerimos hacer una reserva con al menos 1 mes de anticipación para tener todo organizado a la llegada, pero también si haces una reserva de última hora podríamos organizarla con al menos 2 días de anticipación. por supuesto, esta reserva sería previa consulta y confirmación de disponibilidad.

¿Cuántos grupos veré a lo largo de la caminata?

Choqueruiao trek no es un tour muy conocido por diferentes visitantes por lo que no hay muchos grupos diarios, también depende de la temporada en temporada alta de abril a noviembre se pueden encontrar 2 o 3 grupos por día y los meses de temporada baja de diciembre a Marzo Podríamos ser el único grupo en caminar, esto hace que sea una caminata más interesante para nuestros pasajeros ya que Choquequirao es una ciudadela similar a Machu Picchu en belleza y tamaño y como no tiene muchos visitantes es mucho mejor tomar fotos y conectarse con la naturaleza

¿Encontraré baño en el camino?

En cada campamento que almorzaremos o pasaremos la noche encontraremos un baño local el cual puedes usar y para esto pagarás 1 sol o 30 centavos, tienes que traer tu propio papel y en caso de no traer a nuestro personal podrá proporcionarle.

¿Necesito bastones para caminar para la caminata?

Los bastones son definitivamente necesarios ya que te ayudaran para la parte de subida y sobre todo para la bajada y aligerar el peso en las rodillas, si no tienes no te preocupes te alquilamos el par por 50.00 soles o 18.00 dolares .

What Happens with my stuff?

One day before the departure of the tour, our guide will provide you  a duffle bag so that you can pack your equipment including your sleeping bag, this will be carried by the horse and for you to walk, you will only carry a small backpack with your personal things such as camera, water , windbreaker, snacks.
